En la tarde del sábado 26 de febrero, se presentó una explosión en una mina del departamento de Boyacá, a donde llegaron los servicios de emergencias para intentar rescatar a los trabajadores que allí quedaron atrapados, informaron fuentes oficiales.
El accidente que se presentó en la mina La Chapa, ubicada entre los municipios de Tasco y Socha, se habría producido por una acumulación de gas.
De los 15 mineros que se reportaron desaparecidos tras la explosión, 11 cuerpos han sido encontrados sin vida, de los cuales seis han sido identificados.
La Agencia Nacional de Minería confirmó que este socavón debería estar en proceso de excavación y montaje, más no tenía los permisos para ser explotada.
«Con organismos de socorro, el equipo se Salvamento Minero de Nobsa, Policía Nacional y Bomberos iniciamos labores de rescate», agregó la ANM en un mensaje publicado en su cuenta de Twitter después de ocurrida la tragedia.

Este accidente sucede apenas unos días después de que las autoridades rescataran sin vida los cuerpos de cinco mineros que murieron por una explosión en la mina Carbodiamante del municipio de Samacá, en Boyacá.
El accidente ocurrió el 4 de febrero, según detalló entonces la ANM, por «una explosión de gas metano y participación de polvo de carbón que afectó a cinco trabajadores que se encontraban bajo tierra y quienes perdieron la vida debido a la onda de llama, onda presión y altas concentraciones de monóxido de carbono que se generaron».
