El Ministerio de Salud y Protección Social informó que el Instituto Nacional de Salud (INS), con base en los análisis realizados por la red genómica nacional, detectó tres casos de la variante ómicron en Colombia.
Al respecto, el ministro de Salud y Protección Social, Fernando Ruiz Gómez, indicó que todos los casos identificados corresponden a viajeros, “dos de ellos provenientes de Estados Unidos y uno de España”, agregando que dos se identificaron en Cartagena y uno en Santa Marta; siendo dos colombianos y un ciudadano estadounidense.
“Esta situación concuerda con lo que veníamos anunciando desde hace varias semanas respecto a la inminente llegada de la variante a Colombia, la cual ya se encuentra circulando en más de 80 países y hasta el momento no se ha identificado ninguna circulación comunitaria en nuestro país”, detalló Ruiz.
Los tres casos y sus contactos están siendo analizados de manera exhaustiva por el INS “y en la medida que haya información la estaremos ampliando. Esta situación nos lleva a reforzar los anuncios que ha venido haciendo el señor presidente de la República, Iván Duque, y el Ministerio de Salud en el sentido de protegernos, especialmente en estas festividades cuando la gente se agrupa y hay mayor contacto intergeneracional y se puede generar un mayor contagio”, indicó el ministro.
Además, el ministro Ruiz indicó que una herramienta de protección es la vacunación, por lo cual invitó a todos los mayores de 18 años que ya hayan cumplido los seis meses de su esquema completo a vacunarse con el refuerzo.
