La fuerte temporada de lluvias que se registra en el departamento del Cauca, provocó en las últimas horas el desbordamiento de dos de los afluentes del río Micay, los cuales se desbordaron inundando parte de la zona rural y urbana del municipio de López de Micay.
Los organismos de socorro adelantan una evaluación en el terreno para poder determinar el número de personas afectadas, aunque de manera preliminar se habla de más de mil familias damnificadas.
El alcalde del López de Micay, Warnner Dario Suárez Mantilla, dijo que las zonas más afectadas son Isla de Gallo, Noanamito y San Isidro, las cuales sufren continuamente cuando se registra la creciente de los ríos.
“Estamos haciendo las evaluaciones necesarias, pero se puede hablar de unas mil familias afectadas, porque también hubo inundaciones en el casco urbano”, manifestó el mandatario.
Las inundaciones han dejado pérdidas en cultivos de plátano, banano, papa china que es un cultivo propio de la región, además de los de pan coger.
Líderes de López de Micay indicaron que la inundación en el casco urbano, apenas se va a empezar a sentir con fuerza en las veredas, por lo que pueden aumentar el número de personas afectadas.
“Hacemos un llamado para que las autoridades departamentales nos puedan brindar el apoyo. Nosotros ya hemos sufrido unas dos inundaciones y nos preocupa nuestra población porque la gente pierde los cultivos y especies menores que es una forma de tener el alimento”, manifestó Paulino Riascos líder de esa población de la costa pacífica del Cauca.
López de Micay se suma a los municipios de El Tambo, Piamonte, La Vega, Timbiquí, Suárez y Popayán, donde también se han registrado emergencias como consecuencia de la temporada de lluvias que se extendería hasta mediados de diciembre.
