El volcamiento de un camión en un carretera de México deja un trágico saldo de 55 migrantes muertos y otros 58 heridos. Ocurrió en el estado de Chiapas, según informaron fuentes oficiales.
En declaraciones a medios, Luis Manuel García Moreno, secretario de Protección Civil de Chiapas, detalló que la cifra era de 55 decesos, en una de las tragedias más graves que se recuerda de este tipo.
El encargado de Protección Civil precisó que alrededor de las 3:30 p.m (hora local) un tráiler que transportaba a poco más de un centenar de migrantes volcó en un curva en la carretera Chiapa de Corzo-Tuxtla Gutiérrez, en México.
«Lamentablemente, fallecieron 49 personas y tenemos 58 personas lesionadas quienes ya fueron trasladadas a hospitales cercanos al lugar del accidente», confirmó García Moreno en entrevista con el canal de televisión Milenio.
Precisó que en la caja del vehículo viajaban 107 personas migrantes centroamericanos, en su mayoría de Guatemala y El Salvador.
Además, dijo que tanto el Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM) como la Fiscalía General del Estado de Chiapas están enterados de los datos y procederán conforme a la ley.
El encargado de Protección Civil contó que, según versiones de las personas lesionadas, el viaje inició en la ciudad de Comitán de Domínguez, Chiapas, cerca de la frontera con Guatemala, mientras que testigos del accidente manifestaron que la volcadura se dio por exceso de velocidad.
«Los testimonios indicaron que el camión venía a exceso de velocidad y al tomar una curva pronunciada volcó y se desprendió la caja donde viajaban los migrantes», apuntó.
El gobernador del estado de Chiapas, Rutilio Escandón, manifestó su solidaridad por la tragedia y dijo que se determinarán responsabilidades.
«Mi solidaridad con las víctimas del accidente de tránsito ocurrido en el tramo Chiapa de Corzo-Tuxtla Gtz. He instruido dar puntual atención y auxilio a las y los lesionados. Se determinarán responsabilidades de acuerdo con la ley», indicó en un mensaje en Twitter.
